- He's found in the 1910 census in Nimishillen Township, Stark County, OH: GULLING, Martin (53); wife Mary (43); children Bertha (23); Dorothy (18); Leo (16); Lena (14); Martha (11); Lawrence (8); Pauline (6); Lucena (2); Mary (1); guest Mary MOULIN (70; widowed). Martin and Mary had been married 24 years. Mary was the mother of 10 children, all of whom were living. Mary Moulin was mother of 3 children, 2 of whom were living. She was born in France, with the remainder of the household being born in Ohio. Martin was a carpenter; Bertha was a stenographer / office. Obituary published in the Louisville Herald on 1/17/1929 (p. 8): The well-known contractor, Martin Gulling, who for more than 50 years was a carpenter contractor, died Monday morning at his home on Washington avenue, Louisville, following a brief illness. Mr. Gulling was born on the Gulling homestead near Maximo where he resided until eight years ago when he erected a home for himself and family on Washington avenue. Mr. Gulling was especially talented in barn contracting and as Stark County is noted for its large barns speaks well for Mr. Gulling's ability. For 12 years he served as a member of the township board of education which was only one of the many ways in which he always showed a willingness to be of service to his community. Mr. Gulling was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Louis church. Surviving are his widow, Mary Moulin Gulling, one son, Leo P. Gulling, and the following daughters: Mrs. Harvey Menegay, Maximo; Mrs. Clinton Lamielle, Alliance; Pauline, Lucina, Helen and Bertha of the home. Also three sisters, Mrs. Victor Joliat, Louisville; Mrs. Joseph Monat, Canton; Mrs. Caroline Menegay, Chillicothe, Mo.; three brothers C.J. of Louisville and Ed and William of Maximo. Funeral services are beig held this (Thursday) morning at St. Louis Catholic church in charge of Rev. N. P. Weckel. Burial in the Maximo cemetery.
